Questions about the change of name affidavit
Is a name change affidavit enough on its own?
For small corrections many offices accept the affidavit with a newspaper advertisement. For a full legal change, a Gazette notification is usually also needed. Tell us where you will use it and we will advise.
Can I change my name in Bangalore without going to court?
Yes. An adult’s name change is done with an affidavit, newspaper advertisements and, where needed, a Gazette notification — no court case is required.

Which stamp paper is used for an affidavit in Karnataka?
An affidavit is stamped under Article 4 of the Karnataka Stamp Act — ₹100 e-stamp paper. Bonds such as an indemnity bond use their own article.
